Interview - RE Moesli

Q1: Describe yourself very briefly for the people who don't know you.
Yo! I am RE Moesli, a 27-year-old Hip Hop music artist from St.Gallen, Switzerland. To make a long story short: Music is my life.
Q2: How was the making of Blessings? What were the difficulties? What was good?
The making of "Blessings" was a remarkable experience. Collaborating with Vory, whose work I deeply admire, was a dream come true. The inspiration struck when I heard him sing the hook. The song's message resonated with my faith, allowing me to speak effortlessly from the heart and soul. One challenge to me was the long intro, which I turned into a special moment with a self written Spanish prayer expressing gratitude. Another challenge was this breathtaking and powerful beat by ProducerX which pushed to bring out the best of me. But all of this wouldn’t be possible without my team though, shout out to them! Tony Dean, who recorded, mixed, mastered this incredible project with me at Touch Productions. Yung Eye, who shot and edited the incredible cover. Vanessa Pagano who created an amazing visualizer and Laurin Bleiker who shot some artistic video footage of “Blessings”.  Much love to y’all!
Q3: How would you describe your musical style?
My musical style is unique and very versatile, shaped by my roots, inspirations like J. Cole, and influences ranging from the old school boom bap era to nowadays modern trap scene. Also the latin movement had a big impact on evolving my style. I’d describe my voice as energetic and crystal clear, blending the rhyming traditions of Nas and 2Pac with melodic influences from artists like Chris Brown. Overall you can’t put me in a box when it comes to styles, I am always evolving.
Q4: How long have you been making music?
I've been making music for a decade, starting in 2013 when I wrote my first song during a studio visit. Since then, I've been on a continuous journey as an artist.
Q5: What was your best gig so far? How many people were there?
Selecting the best gig from my numerous performances is challenging, but one standout event was in 2019 with DJ BK, where we played an 1 hour set followed by a MC-DJ after show for an universities event. The audience grew from around 100 people to 500 throughout the night. You can watch the video of the performance we did on Youtube “RE Moesli & DJ BK represent MostDefinite”.
Q6: What do you want to achieve with your music? What feelings do you want to evoke?
One of my main goals is to showcase that anything is possible through my music. I aim to inspire and instill faith in dreamers, contributing to making the world a better place with creations from my heart and soul.
Q7: Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
In a decade, I envision reaching most of my dreams. Picture me returning from a world tour to my healthy family in my dream beach house, living life independently and enjoying it to the fullest, and being recognized as a legend for realizing my wildest dreams.
Q8: Who are your favorite artists? What artists do you draw inspiration from?
My favorite artists include J. Cole, Kendrick Lamar, Joey Bada$$, Drake, Chris Brown, Bad Bunny, Vory, BEAM, Don Toliver, Travis Scott, Ty Dolla Sign, Masego, Nas, Jay-Z, 2Pac, Biggie, Gang Starr, Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Nate Dogg, Bob Marley, James Brown and a vast array of others spanning different genres, each contributing to my musical palette.
Q9: Who is your dream collabo?
Undoubtedly, my dream collaboration would be with J. Cole.
Q10: Who have you collaborated with before?
My collaborations have primarily been with producers like Ouhboy, Leryk, ProdHoops, Timber, DJ BK, and my first official feature, Vory.
Q11: What do you do in your free time when you're not making music? Do you make a living from music? If not, what do you do for work?
Beyond music, I indulge in quality experiences like savoring good food, spending time with loved ones, and reconnecting with nature. Currently, I work as an IT Engineer, supplementing my income until my music takes center stage.
Q12: What are the next releases? What else is coming up in your career?
Stay tuned for some exciting releases in 2024. I'm currently planning a lot that I prefer not to divulge too many details about, all unfolding at the perfect divine timing. With this being said, I brave heartly invite you to join my journey to the greats. Peace and Love - Moesli.
